Werther a book lover or technology orientated, this interactive museum will travel you since the beginning of writing, till the actual printing revolution of the 15th century which can be highly comparable to today’s internet revolution. Kids are also encouraged to make their own manual print at printing presses of the 19th century and get the feeling.

The idea belongs to the owners of our local newspaper “Haniotica Nea” who have been pationate collectors of all kind of printing machinery and with a lot of personal effort and passion for what they love they managed to create this city gem which in 2016 was nominated for the prize of European Museum of the Year 2016 awarded by the European Museum Forum.

In its Permisses you will be guided through all types of machinery dating from the Middle Ages till today. You will be astounded by the history of writing presented in 40 separated panels, dating back to cave drawings to todays digital era. A library with a  precious unique collection of books , rare editions, maps, stamps and also the Kostas Tzortzakis hall, which hosts a collection of rare books published between 1554 and 1772 mostly in Venice.

Before you leave make sure you enjoy a nice drink at the cozy Café of the museum and if you visit with kids make sure you buy the book that will always remind you of your special visit. Keep in mind that the museum hosts cultural events such as book presentations in its beautiful Amphitheater so you may have the chance to visit again.
